Imaginary

More from my mom's childhood.  This tea set is even smaller than the other one I blogged.  To get an idea of how small, I have included a snap below from my phone showing the pitcher sitting on top of a nickel.

I know I have a few more pieces to this set somewhere.  If I find them, I may revisit this subject.

Party

It's Friday night!  Scary Harry has his dancing shoes on (err..so to speak) and is ready to party.

Hairy

Jewel is "whipping up some meringue", as I like to call it.  It doesn't matter how much I brush her, she always has the last word (lick?) when it comes to her hair style.

Memory

So I was helping one of my "moms" with some organizing on Saturday.  We found her husband's WWII Navy uniform in a bag and I was amazed at how small it was.  When I commented on the size, she found an album showing her husband wearing it.  Before packing the uniform away in a cedar chest, I asked if I could photograph it.

I took a variety of images, which was no small task since the area I wanted to cover really required me to stand at the ceiling, which I didn't want to do.  I had to widen some shots in order to get the whole uniform in,  which showed a lot of background space.  I was going to use the image below as today's blog pic, but it just doesn't tell the same story the the one above does.

Seeing the snappy uniform with the pictures of the fresh-faced young recruit against the backdrop of a wheelchair, walker, and the same Navy man sitting in his recliner 74 years later, spoke volumes to me from the moment I saw it.  Sometimes the best images are the ones we don't plan.

On this Independence Day, I salute everyone who has fought for this country.
